2006 Ford E250
Shannon and Daryl took an old work van and converted it into a camper van equipped with water, toilet, speaker system with subwoofer, TV and 1000ah battery with solar!
Challenges from the beginning!
The rust in this van was intense, we used a wire brush wheel with a grinder to remove all the rust then patched the holes with fiberglass and gave it a smooth rust proof layer with a preventative coating. Beautiful!
Framing and Flooring
We used waterproof vinyl planks for the floor and started framing out the walls, ceilings and bed frame.
You can also see the prewire for the 12V electrical.
Utilities
We decided to hide our food cooler under the bed frame when not in use, it slideds out on rollers from under the bed when needed.
You can also see the toilet in grey and the water tanks under the countertop.
All done!
Here's our finished product. You can see all utilities are hidden and all electrical is running off 12 volt power with solar.
Our furry friends are ready for a trip!
A little about this build...
All in all, this was a really fun, creative build for us. It didn't break the bank with over-the-top accessories but has all the essentials for someone to get off the grid for a week or so.
The amenities include the following
-Solar charging a 100ah battery which runs all the electrical systems.
-Light switches for 12 volt pendants, recessed and outdoor lighting.
-Two Boss amplifiers powering dual 6" 160 watt speakers and a 8" 900 watt subwoofer with TV.
-12 volt water pump with dual water reserves.
-5.3 gallon compact toilet.
-Pull-out, hidden 45 Qt Engel cooler.
External shore power hookup with hidden air conditioner and ventallation.
